Financial Advisor & Head of Bluegrass Legacy Advisors
Within Bluegrass Investment Company, Hunter leads the Legacy Advisors division, which specializes in financial planning, exit planning, tax planning, and trustee services for business owners in Kentucky.
He was born into a fifth-generation business. It was all he knew growing up, and he had planned on eventually becoming the sixth generation. Spoiler: his parents sold that business halfway through his college years.
Hunter’s parents had never done any financial planning or exit planning, so when his mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, his dad was forced to step away to become the primary caregiver. The absence of succession planning left Hunger, at 20, unprepared to take over operations and ill-equipped to buyout the business.
The business was sold at a discount to competitors. His parents got lucky and made out OK, but with some planning the outcome could have been significantly better.
Hunter says he learned a lot going through that experience. In particular, you don’t always get to choose your exit, which means it is prudent to put together a plan for your business and personal finances that can withstand life’s unexpected curveballs.
His family’s experience is what motivates Hunter to be the advisor his parents wish they had.
Hunter earned a bachelor’s from Western Kentucky University, where he focused in entrepreneurship studies. He started in the financial services industry in 2018.

												Dad & Fly Fisherman
Hunter and his family live on the apple orchard he grew up on in Versailles, KY. He and his wife Alana view the opportunity to raise their children (Briggs and Ande) on the farm as a blend of sentimental, practical, and educational. Not every kid can stand in their backyard and see, smell, and touch where their food comes. Scout, the family’s Cavapoo, seems to think it’s a pretty great place to live as well.
“Dad” is by far Hunter’s favorite job title. While he is passionate about serving business owners, he believes there is nothing more important than raising kids.
The items on his “bucket list” demonstrates Hunter’s interests and values in life:
- Catch a golden dorado in jungles of Bolivia
 - Finish an Ironman triathlon
 - Visit every national park in the U.S.
 - Watch his kids grow into wonderful human beings
 - Help 100 business owners successfully transition their businesses and live an amazing life

Given that list, it’s not a surprise to know he spends weekends active in the outdoors, camping, swimming, or knee-deep in a creek with a fly rod in his hands.
He is also on the board of advisors for Spark Community Cafe, which provides free meals for local people experiencing food insecurity.
